Re-Elect
Esther Blount
Delegate-at-Large, Organization of Staff Analysts
I first started working for the City of New York at the Human Resources Administration in 1987 as a Clerical Associate Level 3 in the Division of AIDS Services, now the HIV-AIDS Services Administration (HASA). At the time, my union was DC37 Local 1549. By 1989, I had been promoted to PAAII and my union was CWA Local 1180.
I first became a member of OSA after I passed the Staff Analyst exam and was appointed in 1993. After that, I had several promotions before becoming an Administrative Staff Analyst.
I served as a delegate for OSA for 11 years and was eventually honored to be elected to the union's Executive Board in January 2019 as a Delegate-at-Large.
I have been a member of three unions in my career, but OSA is, by far, the best. This union just feels right to me. It was the first union where I wanted to give my time and assistance to help my sisters and brothers and where I felt it was welcomed and appreciated.
There are benefits that OSA has that other unions do not, like getting eyeglasses every year. Most unions give glasses every two years. OSA has better dental than anyone else. OSA also has the superimposed major medical plan, which reimburses members’ customary and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses that remain uncovered by our basic health plans.
I retired from City service after 34 years in March of 2022. I started volunteering at the OSA office in June of 2022. I am very happy to be joining the ranks of OSA's superb Grievance Department where my teachers are the best in the field.
I look forward to continuing my service to my fellow members and ask for your support in this election.
